History, beaches and sunshine, Turkey is one of the few places to have it all.

Even though Turkey is a well known affordable sunshine state of mind for European travelers, there's so much to see (and so much to eat) across the country. As hard as it might be to pick just 10 places but here are our takes and why we chose them:
1) Istanbul

Well I hope you didn't think we won't put Istanbul, one of the oldest cities in the world, at the top place. Formerly known as Byzantine, its history goes back to 660 BCE.
Why go?
It's a transcontinental city which means half of the city is located on the European and the other half is on the Asian side of the Bosporus. It habitats more than 15 million people, and has been the commercial bridge in between the Middle East and the Eastern Europe for many centuries.
Having hosted various cultures over centuries, the city has historical artifacts that you may spent weeks to visit, and would not be enough to cover them all.

As the country attracts millions of tourists each year (13 million in 2018), Istanbul is usually the landing spot for the first timers. If you would like a thorough guide on where to stay, what to do and eat in Istanbul, you should check our blog post focused on the city.
